I become passionate about birth after the homebirth of my first
son in 2000. From that time on I immersed myself in the local birth
community and learning about birth. I supported many friends
and family through their births and postpartums, before I officially
became a doula in 2007.
The strong support I had around me, was invaluable in making the birth
of both my children such positive experiences. Helping woman, in
hospital and home, as they birth their children is an honour and I am
grateful to be a part of this special time in their families lives.
I have completed the CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional
Association), Birthing from With-In, and Wise Woman Way Labour
Doula Trainings.
I am a breastfeeding counsellor and am an childbirth educator for the Childbearing Society.

My Key Beliefs about Birth
I believe that birth is not an illness or a condition, but an amazing, wonderful, exciting event that is normal, natural and healthy.
Pregnancy, labour and birth have a profound effect on women and their families. It is an experience that is never forgotten.
Women intuitively and instinctively know how to labour and give birth. Those caring and supporting them need to trust and respect that inner wisdom.
Women have a right to give birth free from routine medical interventions. If interventions become necessary, all information needed to support and understand the intervention, should be provided.
Women have the right to choose where and with whom they give birth.
Women’s confidence and ability to give birth is either enhanced or diminished by those who care for her and where she births.
Education empowers women to make informed choices in health care, to assume responsibility for their health and to trust their intuition, instinct and inner wisdom.
Fathers help best as birth Guardians and/or loving partners, not as coaches; they also need support*
Pain is an inevitable part of childbirth, yet much can be done ease the suffering*
